Monforte del Cid
Located on the plains of the middle reaches of the Vinalopó river, it is a city with a typical Arab profile with its maze of concentric streets that revolve around the old mosque, now a parish church. You can go for a walk and visit the entire sanctuary of San Pascual and the Virgin or play golf at Alenda golf or Font del llop golf.
For those who love sports, Monforte del Cid offers various sports facilities, including football pitches, tennis courts and a swimming pool. There are also gyms and fitness centres for those who want to continue their training while on holiday.
Nearby, less than a quarter of an hour’s drive away, is Elche. A truly Spanish city, known for its palm park and numerous shoe factories.
Elche is a large city with around 220,000 inhabitants. In terms of population, it is the 19th city in Spain, while Alicante, which is much more famous, is 8 places higher with its 330,000 inhabitants.
Come and take a look, it’s worth it. The restaurant La Finca (Michelin star) is also recommended.
And Alicante, together with its coastline, is not far and can be reached in 20 minutes. A vibrant city all year round.
