Villajoyosa
South of Benidorm, you’ll find Villajoyosa on the Costa Blanca North, known locally as La Vila. The colourful coastal town of Villajoyosa has been named Europe’s Best Hidden Gem in 2024 by travel website European Best Destinations. This protected fishing port with a rich maritime history and chocolate tradition reveals a hidden treasure of beautiful beaches, colourful architecture and a vibrant culture.
Among its most emblematic monuments are the church-fortresses of Santa Marta and the Assumption, the old town with its colourful houses, the chocolate museum and the archaeological museum. It also has the remains of a medieval wall, a watchtower and a Roman bridge.
In addition, the colourful village also has a beautiful sandy beach. It is no less than 3.5 kilometres long and therefore good for endless beach fun and water fun. Some of the most famous are the centre beach, Torres beach, the Mallaeta cove and the Fonda cove. It offers activities such as hiking, cycling, diving or fishing.
