Moraira
Moraira is an old Spanish fishing village on the Costa Blanca that has developed into a fashionable seaside resort. Moraira belongs to the municipality of Teulada.
Moraira is an important international tourist centre that enchants its visitors with a charming old town, beautiful beaches and coves, a rich cuisine and an impressive historical and cultural heritage.
The nice thing about Moraira is that tourism has not spoiled the place. Here you will not find large hotels or apartment complexes and the marina is used for what it was intended for: for yachts and boats.
The old town of Moraira has retained the maritime charm of its origins, with white houses decorated with flowers and narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets. Some of the most striking buildings are the 19th century church of Santa María dels Desemparats and the 18th century castle of Moraira, which overlooks l’Ampolla beach and was originally built as a defence against Berber pirates.
Moraira’s beaches and coves are another major attraction, with their crystal clear waters and fine sand or rocks. The aforementioned beach is the most popular and most visited due to its proximity to the town centre. Other recommended beaches include Portet, a small shell-shaped cove; Platgetes, with a lovely promenade; and l’Andragó, ideal for snorkelling or diving.
