Denia
Denia, the capital of the Marina Alta region, takes its name from the Latin Dianium, a reference to the Roman goddess Diana. The town has a rich heritage that reflects the influence of different civilizations that have lived there, including the Iberians, Romans, Muslims and Christians. The most important monuments are the Castle of Denia, which has overlooked the town since the 11th century, the Gothic-Renaissance Iglesia de la Asunción, the 18th century Town Hall and the Ethnological Museum, which showcases the maritime and agricultural traditions of the region.
Here you can find a little bit of everything. Golf, restaurants, beaches and mountains in the backyard and the largest marina on the Costa Blanca.
An authentic place on the Costa Blanca, not overrun by mass tourism but a lively seaside town in both summer and winter.
In the center of Denia you will find beautiful squares with local restaurants and lots of tapas.
Denia offers visitors over 20 kilometres of sandy and rocky beaches, hidden coves and cliffs. The Montgó Natural Park, which separates Denia from Jávea, is an excellent place for hiking, cycling or climbing. From the port of Denia, visitors can travel by boat to the Balearic Islands, especially Ibiza and Formentera.
