El Campello
El Campello in Costa Blanca North has been an independent seaside resort since 1901, until then it belonged to Alicante. It is located on the coast, but also in a beautiful mountainous area.
It is a place of contrasts. On the one hand, you have archaeological finds that go all the way back to the Bronze Age. A good example is the ‘island’ Illeta dels Banyets, which was once detached from the coast by an earthquake and shows that people lived here 2,000 years BC. On the other hand, El Campello is a lively seaside resort.
The most famous beach that belongs to the place is Playa Muchavista. This beach is about 3.3 kilometers long and eventually merges into the Playa de San Juan of Alicante.
About 20 minutes drive north of El Campello you will find the caves of Canelobre, the largest and deepest cave system in Spain.
You can take a boat trip to the island of Tabarca off the coast.
